Don't say you think "American Idiot" was their greatest album to date when four years ago you thought it was the pimple on popular music's ass.

You can think what you want about the new album, but Jesus Christ, at least side with the old hipsters who still haven't gotten over the whole "Dookie" thing.

The new album's fine. Actually, comparing it to "American Idiot" is about as pointless as comparing "American Idiot" to "Dookie." Could it be that maybe these albums can, gasp, stand on their own? (God forbid) Besides, you get like 18 tracks for $10 so you at least get a bunch of songs, good or bad, for your buck.

Pete, don't shower praise on a man who doesn't give two shits about what you think of him. He's up here, you're down here. Talking about how great he is doesn't make you seem more culturally evolved, it just makes you sound like a douche bragging about how culturally evolved he is.

How come everyone hates Green Day for being "political"? And how come those same people are thinking the new album's going to bomb just because we don't have Bush to be pissed off at anymore?
Green Day's political, so what? Fall Out Boy attempted to be political with Folie A Deux (even almost releasing it on Election Day?) and no one on here lashed at them about it. I'm smelling a double standard.
I felt American Idiot was a more of a commentary of life UNDER the Bush administration (You know, what happened during the last eight years?) not solely ABOUT Bush. Look people, Billie Joe was pissed off about how the first Bush term turned out and he expressed it the only way he knew how, through music. Now he's got the last four years and everything Bush dumped on Obama to sing about, let's not pigeon hole the band until we hear the new album, okay?

edit: I just downloaded and listened to an old demo for the title track off their new album against the band's wishes. Sorry guys, but when you tease us for three years (which is a very mean thing to do) fans tend to get a little desperate and find and post shit like that. Anyway, I listened to it and I'm even more excited so don't you worry Mr. Record Company Executives, I'll be giving you my $9.99 in May for the full album. *eye roll*

Sarcasm's a very hard thing to use effectively. It either blows over the top of people's heads or you get nice little comments like this: "I think you should tie your shoes together and try and walk down a flight of stairs. Nothing personal. Just do it. -Thanks, Dina" Hey Dina, go shove a pole up your ass and get a sense of humor. Nothing personal. Just do it. Thanks.

I knew posting a blog that included lines like "...the usually flamboyantly dressed Nick Wheeler looked oddly butch standing next to him (Tyson Ritter)..." and "...he's paid more attention to looking the part and aimlessly wondering around the stage then his usually raw vocals letting them sound half assed and half hearted..." on allamericanrejects.com was basically sacrificing myself to attacks by overprotective teenies.

Fall Out Boy fucking recorded a new album this summer. Actually I wasn't too surprised, 95% of their fan base are made up of fickle teenaged (and some older) girls who get bored easily, and if they didn't think they could've made money off of their "Beat It" cover the album would be coming out sooner. The reason this news sort of pissed me off isn't the fact that Fall Out Boy have new music, they're musicians let them do what they do, it's the timing of it. I think Pete forgot he has a baby due, I hope their solution isn't to "bring the baby with" on promotional shit and on tour, but something tells me, Ashlee might not be too happy staying at home alone with a baby.... Also, it's been, what, about a year and a half since IOH came out? Sometimes, when you try too hard to keep getting music out, you burn out. I can only think of one band who could get one (good) album out a year, The Beatles (who Pete compared Fall Out Boy to. *please*). The Beatles could do that because, one, they had Lennon/McCartney/Harrison working on lyrics and the whole band usually would help musically and the Beatles stopped touring after 1966 so they could actually spend some time in the studio, but also have a break in between albums. Fall Out Boy only has Wentz on lyrics and Stump (usually) on music, plus they try to tour and do a bunch of side things on top of that. I mean, I don't even think Fall Out Boy records as a whole band anymore. Pete's admitted several times that the first time they actually get to play a new song together is like a day before they do a show. How sad is that?
My other problem with the timing of this album is the fact that the follow up to the All-American Reject's Move Along is currently set to come out on November 18th. In the last blog that I ranted about albums and release dates I said "I'm sure that once the Reject's new album comes out, a new Fall Out Boy album won't be far behind." <4/21/08> (Was I right or was I right?) The Reject's new album took six months and one day to record and they don't even have a name for it. The last idea I heard was "El diablo con queso" Translation: The Devil With Cheese. Yes, I admit the Rejects aren't exactly the most original band, and their talent is average but at least they're attempting to actually act like a band. Would I have liked a new album from them a year and a half ago? Probably, but I'm glad they waited until they actually knew what they wanted to do instead of trying to squeeze an album out and knowing that it'll sound mediocre. (This goes for Green Day too, but going on five years is starting to get ridiculous...)
Sorry about the ranting, and of course, everyone else is welcome to put their two cents in too.

A friend who watched the All-American Rejects on TRL yesterday prompted me to write this. As she summarized their appearance for me over the instant messager, she told me that as she watched, all she could think about was, "Oh my God. They're not promoting anything. They're only there to talk." (I guess that's not entirely true, they were showing off a "Got Milk?" ad, but seriously, we were expecting an album release date.) I, for one, was completely amazed that in a music genre that is faced by a person who is all about promotion *cough*PeteWentz*cough* that a pop/rock/emo band was able to go on TRL just to talk about the recording process of an album that doesn't have a definite release date and to speculate whether Nick Wheeler has a "Bon Jovi Forever" tattoo on his back. On the other hand, Damien didn't seem too pleased that Tyson Ritter didn't have a point to his over animated jabber.

"Motion City Soundtrack, the most influential rock band in the history of the world, has been destroying the hopes and dreams of small children everywhere since 1997. This quintet of ex-Sears catalog hand models reside for the most part in Minneapolis, Minnesota; where it is always a pleasant 78 degrees and sunny. Errol Bumpstead, an 8 year old student at Wildwood Elementary school in Mahtomedi describes Motion City Soundtrack as, "pretty good if you like that stuff." Justin Pierre, Josh Cain, Matt Taylor, Tony Thaxton, and Jesse Johnson comprise this feat of musical excellence. You, the reader of this brilliant paragraph of writing, formulated by a state college-paid education, can find out more about this academy award winning band as well as astrophysics and the whig party by visiting their website: www.motioncitysoundtrack.com.
Green Day: Last album released on September 21, 2004.
The release date for the follow up album keeps getting pushed back. Last thing I heard was sometime in 2009. To date, Fall Out Boy has released two albums since Billie Joe finally got the balls to release American Idiot. Hell, even the Eagles, who haven't released a new album in 20 years got an album out before them. On the bright side, the Foxboro Hot Tubs have recently announced that they are, in fact, Green Day. Billie's fascination with side projects happened with the Network back in 2003. The Network's Money Money 2020 was released on September 30, 2003 with American Idiot being released about a year later. Hopefully, if the Foxboro Hot Tubs are received well, it'll give Billie Joe his confidence back and a new Green Day album will be released soon.

The All-American Rejects: Last album released on July 12, 2005
The good thing about the All-American Rejects is that they are at least in the studio working on a new album. Fall Out Boy has only released one other album after the release of Move Along, but that's only because From Under the Cork Tree was released three months earlier then it. The Rejects have been spending most of these past three years touring and completely avoiding making an album because they frankly had no idea what to do. To appease rabid fans and to possibly convince their record label that they were actually going to do something, the band started internet broadcasting from the studio (www.justin.tv/allamericanrejects) From the little hunks that I've heard the album is going to interesting, maybe not as good as Move Along, but interesting.
A video about the Reject's recording process.

I read somewhere that Fall Out Boy was already trying to record a new album over this summer.
